I Hate Carpet

On Sunday night, the dog got into the cat treats and ate them all, along with part of the cardboard packaging. I woke up Monday morning to various puddles of dog vomit in my dining room and returned home to more after work on Monday evening. I cleaned them as best as I could with the limited time I had.

This evening I spent more than two hours with my rug shampooer, (yes, it's more cost-effective to own than rent when you have four children, three cats and a dog), cleaning the dining room carpet. I hate carpet!

For years I have wanted to remove the dining room carpet (and the kitchen linoleum) and replace it with tile. Unfortunately, money - or the lack thereof - has been the issue. If I had tile instead of carpet, the clean-up would have taken less than ten minutes rather than over two hours. Arrgh!

You poor thing! I also hate carpet - we're putting polished wooden floors in the new house ;-)

I like carpet, tile and wood. But carpet hard to clean.

When our family room carpet was new-a few days old, I came home one afternoon and discovered that our teenage German shepherd had gotten into the dog biscuits and then had diarrhea in 55 places. Yes 55! Yes I counted. I was so overwhelmed that all I could do is count the spots first...in disbelief and denial.

Fortunately...we have a carpet cleaner too. :)

Saffa Chick, I envy you the new wooden floors. Please take photos when they're done and post on your blog - I'd love to see!

Kim, I'd go for tile, hardwood, laminate, linoleum, or even concrete instead of that filthy carpet.

Sea Spray, it's a good thing dogs are so loveable or we'd never forgive them when they do these things. When my dog was a pup, she chewed a hole in the drywall. (Is that known as gypsum board in Europe?) Of course, it was within weeks of my having freshly painted the walls!
